Family Learning
one study. multiple ages.
Somewhere along the way, many of us have become disconnected from our food: how it’s grown, how it’s prepared, and the people we share it with.
Around the world, there are food traditions built around patience, gathering, and care. Meals that take time. Recipes passed from one generation to the next. Families and communities cooking side by side. Food that carries history, memory, and meaning.
There is so much our kids can learn from that.
Around the World at Our Table gives families a chance to slow down, step into another culture with curiosity, and discover that food is about far more than what’s on the plate.
what the table can teach us
Connection to people.
Connection to place.
Connection to tradition.
Connection around the table.
Maybe learning about the way others gather can teach us how to gather again.
As a dietitian, homeschooling mom, and longtime lover of food and travel, I created Around the World at Our Table to give families a way to explore new places through something deeply familiar: a shared meal.
When a new food is connected to a place, a story, and something your child has just learned, it stops feeling quite so unfamiliar.
Hi! I'm Amy
“I just started looking through the first book and right off the bat, I am blown away. I didn’t have an expectation per se, but this exceeded everything! It’s beautiful, I love the layout, and my kids instantly were all over me wanting to see it. This is truly amazing! This is so much more than a nutrition curriculum, this is actually a great history/geography curriculum!”

Around the World at Our Table is designed to grow with your family. Younger children can enjoy the stories, maps, recipes, crafts, and hands-on experiences, while older students and teens can go deeper through cultural studies, history, research, writing, discussion, and "Explore Further" activities. This makes it easy for siblings of different ages to explore the same country together at their own level.
Yes. Each unit study book already includes the activity pages within the book itself. If you have two students and both will be writing on, cutting out, or otherwise using those pages, you’ll want to purchase one additional Student Activity Pack for the second student.
So for two students, you would use the activity pages included in the book for one child and purchase one additional Activity Pack for the other.
Each country is designed to be explored slowly, often over several weeks. I suggest spending about a month on each country.
No. Each volume can stand on its own as a complete six-country unit study. You can begin with Volume I, start with Volume II, or purchase the full-year bundle if you want the complete twelve-country journey.
Yes. Recipes are all free from gluten, soy, peanuts, dye, and seed oils. All recipes that include dairy include dairy alternatives. The cookbook portion includes allergy badges to help families quickly identify recipe considerations. As with any recipe-based curriculum, families should always review ingredients and make substitutions as needed for their own allergies, sensitivities, and dietary needs.
No. The recipes are meant to enrich the learning experience, not create pressure. You can cook one recipe, try several, simplify the meal, or simply read about the foods and traditions if that works better for your season.
Most of the ingredients are easy to find at a regular grocery store. I was able to get about 85–90% of what we needed at my local Sprouts. The others are a few specialty items coming from ethnic markets or online. There are also a couple of specialty spices used throughout the study, but they are optional and alternative spices are provided in the recipes.
Visiting the local ethnic markets became part of the learning experience for us. We had so much fun walking the aisles, discovering new foods, and talking with the shop owners about their culture.
Yes. The standard purchase is for one household, but group licensing is available for homeschool co-ops, classrooms, church groups, enrichment programs, and other shared learning settings. If you're interested in setting up a group license, please use the contact form with more information on your group type (co-op, private school, hybrid, tutoring pod) and expected headcount and I’ll follow up with the best licensing option and next steps!
Yes. Around the World at Our Table is written from a Christian perspective, but the faith components are only lightly sprinkled throughout and can easily be omitted or modified.
Around the World at Our Table is a standalone world culture and geography unit study centered around food, family meals, traditions, maps, stories, recipes, and hands-on country lessons.
The Growing Up Nourished: Nutritional Foundations curriculum has a broader nutrition and wellness focus, helping children understand food, the body, nourishment, habits, and healthy rhythms in everyday life.
There may be some shared heart behind both resources — food, family, curiosity, and helping children build a healthier relationship with what they eat, but the actual lessons and focus are different. Around the World at Our Table is not meant to repeat the full curriculum. It is meant to complement it by taking your family on a country-by-country journey through culture, geography, and meals from around the world.
